hello! today marks the release of my new record Big Strong Man . . . this record means a lot to me, of course, and it would mean a lot to me if you listened to it. it’s an album about a multitude of things . . . growing up, gaining weight, getting sad, losing weight, being in quarantine, growing out my hair, painting my nails, *not* painting my toenails, getting sick, yearning and longing and other standard things in singer/songwriter-land; snow, anxiety, low-level endless dread, joy and dancing, j-pop and soft rock, memory, nostalgia, friends, rent, large burly men and tight skirts, reading and re-reading the same books, staying up late, not being a good person, watching life go by, feeling closed off, shut out, stuck in, in doubt, missing people, running away, feeling twisted, sleepwalking and scaring people, wanting to shave my head, actually growing a moustache instead, being happy with nothing, that one song by Mitski, that other song by Neil Young, drunken people, family, gummy bears, old homes, Birkenstocks (twice), snowstorms, getting sick again, metaphors, the morning after, pharmacies, libraries, mobile phones, traffic cones, postcards home, protests, high-heels, teabags, milk-skin, Fiona Apple and gin . . . cleaning the bathroom, eating meat, songwriting, late-night snacks, drinking, smoking, moaning, cold coffee, paper flowers, Monday blues and April showers, having trouble sleeping, dreaming, coughing, eating again, noise, life-size cut-outs, working hard and killing trout . . ghosts, ghosts of ghosts, life’s loop, work-life, wet socks, beaches, sand, sandy beaches, cocktails, star signs, tuna-mayonnaise, tights, derealisation . . . getting weird, washing, coffins, countryside, making money, spending money, guns (as a metaphor), wanting to be ok, determined to be, bed-sitting, long walks, disease, that stupid accent I have when I sing, feeling weird, letters, bouquets, comfort, money, yellow teeth, wine, red lips, giving you what you want, alienation, fireworks and ferris wheels . . among other things . . . what I’m saying is that I really like this record! and it’s nice when people feel the same. so check it out . . .
